Introducing the DSL Select Program – A Pathway to the Next Level
At Mendocino County Soccer Academy (MCSA), we are committed to providing a clear player development pathway, and our DSL Select program is a key part of that journey. Whether your child is aiming to move up to a select team or simply looking for a new challenge, the DSL Select program offers an exciting post-season experience to help them grow.
What is the DSL Select Program?
DSL Select gives nominated players the chance to train with MCSA’s professional staff and directors for three weekends following the regular season. This culminates in a post-season tournament called the California Cup in Fremont on November 23-24, 2024. This program is designed to provide a higher level of competition and training, allowing players to test themselves in a more advanced setting.
From these nominations, we will form DSL Select teams and send them to the California Cup where kiddos will face off against teams from across Northern California. It’s an excellent opportunity for players to get more touches on the ball, improve their technical skills, and experience competitive tournament play.
A Stepping Stone in Our Player Development Pathway
Many of our select team players started in DSL Select, where they built the foundational skills necessary for the next level. However, even if your child isn’t planning to move on to a select team, the DSL Select program is still a great way to push their skills and experience a higher level of play.
“The DSL Select program provides a great opportunity for players to see what the next level of soccer is like,” says Shane Huff, MCSA’s President and Director. “It’s a fun, competitive environment that challenges players and helps them grow.”
Spring Select Tryouts Coming in January
We’re also gearing up for Spring Select Team tryouts in January. The DSL Select program is a great way to get noticed by our coaches ahead of the spring season. Players who participate will get a feel for the commitment and skill required at the select level, setting them up for success when tryouts roll around.
Details & How to Get Involved
The DSL regular season ends on October 26th, and the DSL Select program begins shortly after. Training sessions lead up to the California Cup. The fee for the program will be roughly $90.
If your child is interested, please reach out to your DSL coach. Coaches will nominate players from their team next week, focusing on kids who show great attitude, work ethic, and readiness for this challenge.
This program is an excellent way for your child to take their game to the next level. We’re excited to see which players step up and take advantage of this opportunity!
