Mendocino County Soccer Academy

winter futsal

Futsal is a game that is played with a smaller, heavier, low-bounce ball. It's played on a basketball court, without the use of the walls, and in a 5 vs. 5 format with goalies. Our u6 players play a modified 3 vs. 3 version without goalies.

The fast-paced game creates an optimum learning environment where players will be challenged to problem-solve under pressure. Futsal strongly emphasizes decision-making, foot skills, creativity, and personal style.

Our coaches will emphasize one or two technical skills per session for the first 10-15 minutes as part of warm-ups. We then make teams and play. The best learning happens through free play. The nature of the game demands that all the players are engaged in all aspects of the game.

Futsal originated in Uruguay and has been credited with South American players' grand foot skills and creativity. Today, futsal is an international sport used worldwide for youth development.

We offer futsal from December through February in Ukiah, Willits, and Mendocino.
