La Casse Scholarship Fund

PAYING FORWARD PETER'S PASSION FOR SOCCER

overview

At MCSA, we believe that every local child should have access to a high-quality soccer-playing experience, regardless of the ability of the family to pay. To support this goal, we're happy to announce the creation of the Peter LaCasse Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The fund is named after Ukiah native, Peter LaCasse who passed away unexpectantly two days after his 17th birthday. Peter was a childhood friend of MCSA co-founder and president Shane Huff.  The boys grew up playing soccer together in Mendocino County and became the best of friends. In fact, the two planned on playing the beautiful game together internationally in Bolivia. However, due to Peter's sudden passing, their dream was never realized.

Through this fund, Peter's memory will live on by creating opportunities for local children to play and enjoy the wonderful game of soccer with MCSA. As a non-profit 501(c)3, we support well over 500 kids and have a responsibility to efficiently run our organization, including paying staff, league registration fees, purchasing new equipment, and the many expenses of running a high-quality program. Scholarship funds allow us to take care of some of these expenses while creating opportunities for kids who otherwise may not get involved.

Funds are awarded based on financial need and for our older players (7th grade and above) on GPA and citizenship.

Local individuals and organizations contribute to the fund each year. MCSA is a non-profit 501(c)3. Please consult with your tax advisor as your donation may be tax-deductible.
